    Monthly workshops are coming for research! Do you want to learn how to find local historical or family stories but just don’t know where to start? We want to help you become more familiar doing research, and navigating archive libraries!

    The SPACE, in partnership with the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation, is excited to host a research 101! We will meet once a month throughout the year in small intimate groups to facilitate your journey into discovery!

  • Fall Programming

    September - December

    September 1, The SPACE will begin taking reservations for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade class visits for local schools! We will host your class at our downtown location for an informative conversation about our local Chumash history and your students will get to do an activity to learn more about our material culture and craftsmanship.

    October will kick off our class visits and tours for K-12 classes, see our page to learn more about your school visit and reservations!

The Dancing Net Skirt 1

The Dancing Net Skirt workshop will have 2 sessions to accommodate diverse schedules. You will learn about different materials and plants used to make cordage, thread and clothing. You will have the opportunity to learn skills of making cordage, making a net, uses of plants as well as sharing SPACE with others in a small group setting.
